Water Justice and Water Access: Why Political Advocacy and Practical Action Belong Together. By Roland Brunner, Blue Community Network.

The global water crisis is one of the defining challenges of our century. Billions of people still lack secure access to safe drinking water and sanitation, while climate change, pollution, privatisation, conflict, and inequality continue to intensify pressure on water resources around the world. In this context, organisations and institutions working on water issues often develop different approaches. Some focus on political advocacy and the recognition of water and sanitation as human rights. Others work directly on the ground, drilling boreholes, building sanitation systems, protecting springs, restoring watersheds, or providing emergency access to water in humanitarian crises.
